Cinnamon Life Cereal was among my favorite picks when I needed a cinnamon fix. But, unfortunately, that is no longer the case. According to their website, they’ve spiced up our favorite cereal with the lively taste of cinnamon. I would disagree. They’ve entirely despiced Life Cinnamon cereal. Instead of livening it up, Quaker Oats has made it lifeless.

Even more unfortunate, for me, is that I picked up a two-box package of family-sized Life Cinnamon cereal. As if the new flavor wasn’t bad enough, the bag is impossible to open. No matter how careful you are, you end up tearing it in a way that causes a lot of the cereal to spill into the bottom of the box. Has the team at Quaker Oats lost their magic? Will we ever see the original cereal return to the shelves?

Where did the taste go for Cinnamon Life cereal?

This is not Life Cinnamon cereal as I remember it. I can’t tell you the number of times I checked the box to confirm I did not buy plain Life cereal. When you look at the squares, they even look like the original Life because you need a magnifying glass to see the tiny specks of cinnamon. So not only did I waste my money, but I’ve wasted my time. Now, I’m stuck with two jumbo size boxes of Cinnamon Life cereal that have no cinnamon.

Did Quaker Oats Change the Flavor of Cinnamon Life cereal?

Right on the front of the box, Quaker has “new look same flavor.” I’m not too sure who tasted it that told them that. Life Cinnamon cereal tastes nothing like it used to. Instead, Quaker Oats decided to change the flavor to bland. The taste tester who said it was the same had to have been a fan of the plain Life cereal. Gone are the crystals of sugar and the thick coating of cinnamon. Quaker claims they were responding to consumer demand to remove artificial preservatives and colors from artificial sources where possible. While that may be, I find it hard to believe the great taste we loved was all artificial this whole time. But, there can be no other explanation.

As you can see, the reality of Life Cinnamon cereal is far from the photoshopped picture on the box. I’m sure you would agree the real cereal that came out of the box looks like the plain Life cereal.

Should you buy Cinnamon Life cereal?

I used to stock up on Life Cinnamon cereal whenever it would go on sale. I especially loved that last bowl that was chock full of extra sugar and cinnamon from the bottom of the bag. Oh my, how it made the milk taste good. However, there seems to have been a huge shift in flavor and quality. You should only buy this cereal if you wanted the plain Life cereal to begin with. No doubt, some product person who never ate it decided the change was good. The previously spiced up lively cinnamon flavor now amounts to bland grossness. I have no idea what to do with the two boxes that I’m stuck with. If you are looking for cinnamon-sugar sweetness, Life Cinnamon cereal will waste your time.
